On January 23rd, I had the privilege of doing my annual trip to Elon University to give a lecture on burns to the Physical Therapy students. It was a patient and survivor perspective on burns.
On February 6th, a fellow burn survivor and myself had the privilege of accompanying an OT from the North Carolina Jaycee Burn Center to assist with a lecture on burns for the Occupational Therapy students at East Carolina University. She did her thing, covering the medical and OT side of burn care. We did our thing, presenting patient and burn survivor perspectives. The entire lecture lasted about 3 hours and they taped it. Our portion lasted about an hour followed by an hour of Q&A. We hope it went beyond videos, pamphlets, and books. Check it out, the talkin starts around 5 minutes into it.

In order to reach the highest potential of prevention, education and motivational programs, we believe that one must add highly motivated and well trained burn survivors to the mix. What do you think?
On March 1st I will have the privilege to travel to Virginia to be a part of the Tidewater Burn Support Group's burn survivor reunion. Hope I can give as much as I plan to take during my visit as I speak with those who've walked a path similar to mine.
